Marriage is it pain or gain?

Getting married is lovely and dream come true or supposed to be until reality sets in...and we wonder wether we would have been better off the way we were...please lets get real. I would love to read from people. Is marriage pain or gain? I am still amongst the set of people that believe it is gain, you gain a friend, lover and partner. It comes with it's baggage but overall the fact that you are not alone is quite comforting and reduces the stress of life in general.
